Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a sclerosing solution into the vein through a micro needle. This causes the vein wall to collapse and as a result, the vein gradually fades and /or disappears.
Bruising, which follows the procedure, will disappear within two weeks. Final results will be achieved after 3-5 months.
Sclerotherapy is used to reduce spider veins and medium size varicose veins. It may replace or complement surgical treatment. Several sessions, paced weeks apart, may be necessary to achieve good results.
Patients are asked to wear compression stockings immediately after the procedure to reduce bruising and keep the veins compressed. A walk for half an hour immediately after the procedure is recommended, thereafter return to normal daily activities is encouraged.
